High Performance Endorsement

Cessna 182 high Performance

Willing to step up from a basic aircraft trainer to something more capable and powerful?

Most aircraft used in basic training are powered by smaller engines (from 85 HP up to 200 HP). The FAA considers any aircraft powered with more than a 200 HP engine a High-Performance Aircraft. In order to properly learn how to manage its characteristics, you are required to obtain a High-Performance Endorsement from a CFI.

It’s also common that an airplane powered by a bigger engine, also comes with a Constant Speed Propeller, adding up a little more complexity to the engine management.

Dallas Flight Center will get you the knowledge of how to properly manage a Cessna 182 with a venerable Continental O-470 engine. This is a 230 HP engine with a constant speed propeller and equipped with a JPI Engine Monitor. A JPI Engine Monitor will allow you to better manage your power settings, by monitoring each cylinder’s CHT and EGT temperatures.

Attention:

Due to rapidly rising fuel costs it has become necessary to implement a fuel surcharge. Effective while the banner is displayed, a $15.00 per flight hour fuel surcharge will be added to any plane rental cost. We hope this measure will be temporary with fuel costs dropping in the future.
